JACKSON’S ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS AT OAKHAM

30th August 2005

TWO new appointments have been made at a busy builders’ merchant branch in the East Midlands.

Mark Collier has been promoted to depot manager at the Oakham branch of Lincoln-based Jackson Building Centres and will succeed current manager Malcolm Cobb who is due to retire later this year.

Mark, 35, is currently the building manager at Jackson’s in Newark and joined the company 11 years ago. He was initially a member of the yard staff before becoming a sales assistant and has held his current job for five years. He will join colleagues at Oakham next month before taking over from Malcolm in September.

The experience of running his own department has encouraged Mark to take on the challenge of managing a depot. “I’ve visited the Oakham branch to have a look round and to meet the staff there and I’m really looking forward to starting work,” said Mark who lives in Balderton.

The second new appointment at Oakham is that of Norman Popple, 48, who  has taken on the post of heavyside manager after being promoted from his previous role of supervisor. Norman, who is also a retained fireman, lives in Stamford and joined the company three and a half years ago.

The branch, on Pillings Road, operates jointly with the Jackson’s outlet in nearby Stamford and the appointments have come at a busy time for the two stores. The range of Bradstone decorative paving and Brett Omega block paving have recently been extended and new outdoor patio displays are now on show at both outlets.

The Oakham branch is also the town’s only stockist of power tools and
shop supervisor Dave Cole has recently introduced a wider range of Makita, Bosch and DeWalt power tools into stock as well as extending the range of ironmongery products in store.

Manager Lathen Tuplin, who oversees both branches, said the changes had proved popular with both trade and retail customers. He added that he was looking forward to working with Mark and wished both his colleagues success in their new roles.
