JACKSON SUPPORTS SCHOOL HOLIDAY
7th July 2007
A charity, which specialises in providing holidays for children with learning difficulties, has benefited from a generous donation from its local Jackson Building Centre.
Every year the fundraising committee for the Oundle School Mencap Holiday in Oundle, Northamptonshire, approaches local businesses to help fund the holiday and this year Jackson Buildings Centres was among the many companies to get involved.
Jackson’s Sleaford branch donated a quantity of materials including, chicken wire and glue, which was used to make some eye-catching creations, such as a giant caterpillar, a ladybird, a bee and a snail.
Caroline Wright, charity fundraiser commented: “I would like to thank Jackson for their generous donation. The materials which they supplied made such a difference, and enabled the children to create some really imaginative designs.”
“Donations like these go a long way towards helping us to provide families who might otherwise not have had a holiday, with a much needed break - whilst at the same time creating a friendly, safe and stimulating environment for the children to enjoy.”
Simon Jackson, joint managing director Jackson Building Centres said: “When Caroline contacted the company, we are only too happy to get involved. Jackson is always keen to support the local community and projects like these are so worthwhile. I am pleased that the children were able to put the materials to such creative use.”
Oundle School Holiday Mencap Holiday was founded in 1982 and has recently expanded to take 40 children on the holiday scheme each year.
